About Riverside South

A suburban community that grew in the last few decades.

The City’s Ottawa Neighbourhood Study describes Riverside South–Leitrim as a suburban area in the former City of Gloucester, just southwest of the airport. It was mostly farmland as late as the early 1990s.

The study lists its communities as Leitrim, The Landing, River’s Bend, The Villas, Summerhill Village, Honey Gables, Gloucester Glen, Rocky Harbour and Canyon Walk. Its boundaries run along Riverside Drive, River Road and Leitrim Road to the north, Rideau Road to the south, Bowesville Road to the east and the Rideau River to the west.

Getting around: the Vimy Memorial Bridge, completed in 2014, links the area to Barrhaven, and the O-Train Line 2 south extension, with stations at Leitrim, Bowesville and Limebank, opened for service on January 6, 2025. The study also lists the Rideauview Community Centre, Rideau Valley Conservation Authority trails and parks, and the Riverside South Community Association.
