Tell us your renewal date. We compare the offer before you sign.

Your lender’s renewal letter is one option, not the only one. Send us your date and the basics, and we show you how the offer compares with other lenders for the same term.

What to send

Start with five details.

Email the renewal date, your current lender, your rate and term, the approximate balance, and your timeline. Please do not email financial documents or account numbers; we will tell you what else is needed and give you a secure way to share it. See our privacy policy.

What we compare

More than the rate.

01

The offer in front of you

Rate, term, payment, prepayment privileges and what happens if you sell or move before the term ends.

02

Other lenders, same term

The same term and amortization from other lenders, so the comparison is like for like.

03

Your plans

A mortgage that suits a planned move, a sale or an investment property can matter more than a small rate difference.

Timing

Start a few months before the term ends.

The FCAC suggests starting a few months before the end of your term. A federally regulated lender must send a renewal statement at least 21 days before the term ends, so you can have an offer in hand while you compare.

Switching

Count the costs next to the savings.

The FCAC notes that switching lenders can mean discharge or assignment fees, an appraisal, and a new mortgage insurance premium if the loan amount or amortization increases. We show them next to the savings, so a lower rate is never judged on its own.

Questions

Renewal review: quick answers.

Send the basics and we will take it from there.

When should I send you my renewal date?

As soon as you know it. The FCAC suggests starting a few months before your term ends. A federally regulated lender must send a renewal statement at least 21 days before the term ends, but you can compare options before it arrives. If your date is closer than that, send it anyway.

What do I send, and what should I not send?

Send your renewal date, current lender, rate and term, and the approximate balance. Please do not email financial documents or account numbers. We will tell you what else we need and give you a secure way to share it.

Does it cost anything to find out?

Asking for a review does not oblige you to switch, sign or pay anything. If switching makes sense, we show the costs next to the savings so you can compare the real numbers.

What might switching cost?

The FCAC notes you may face discharge or assignment fees and an appraisal, plus a new mortgage insurance premium if the loan amount or amortization increases. Staying with your current lender may avoid some of them, which is why we compare both honestly.

Is this the same as the renewal guide?

The renewal guide explains how renewal works. This page is for starting your review: tell us your date, and we compare the offer you have been given.
