About Bells Corners

A crossroads settlement inside the Greenbelt.

The City’s Ottawa Neighbourhood Study splits the area into Bells Corners East and Bells Corners West. East runs from Moodie Drive to Highway 416, with the Greenbelt to the north and south. West runs from Moodie Drive, with the Greenbelt to the north, south and west.

The study includes Bellwood Estates, Lynwood Village and Arbeatha Park in the east and Westcliffe Estates in the west, and it mentions NCC Greenbelt hiking, biking and cross-country ski trails.

The name comes from Hugh Bell’s tavern, which operated from 1834 to 1863. The area was mostly rural until the 1900s, had become a commercial centre by the 1950s, and was part of Nepean until the 2001 amalgamation.
